Websites That Work as Hard as You Do

Website design and development Mission Beach Far North Queensland

Your website is typically a prospective customer's first interaction with your business — and first impressions form in milliseconds. A slow, outdated, or hard-to-navigate website signals the wrong things before you've had a chance to say anything. A well-designed, fast-loading, mobile-responsive website that clearly communicates what you do and makes it easy to take the next step will outperform a beautifully designed site that loads slowly or breaks on a phone.

We design and build websites for Australian businesses that need to project professionalism, rank in search, and convert visitors into leads or customers. Whether you need a clean brochure site for a professional services firm, a feature-rich corporate platform, a content-heavy site with a CMS your team can manage, or a complete rebuild of a website that's fallen years behind — we deliver sites that are built to last and structured to perform.

OUR WEBSITE SERVICES

What's Included in a Website Project

A website project with ELECTRICLATTE covers everything from initial strategy through to launch and ongoing support. Here's what we do at each stage.

New Website Design & Build

We design new websites starting with your goals — not a template library. We understand your target audience, competitive landscape, and the actions you want visitors to take, then design page layouts and information architecture that guide visitors toward those actions. Visual design is applied to match your brand identity, colour palette, and typography. Development is then done to the design specification, using semantic HTML5, modern CSS, and appropriate JavaScript — producing a site that renders correctly across browsers, loads quickly, and can be extended as your needs grow.

WordPress Development & CMS

WordPress powers a large proportion of the web for good reason — it's flexible, well-documented, has a large ecosystem of plugins, and its block editor makes content management accessible to non-technical users. We build custom WordPress themes (not just modified off-the-shelf templates) and custom plugins for functionality that doesn't exist in the market. For clients who need e-commerce, we implement WooCommerce with appropriate payment gateway integration. We also build on other CMS platforms when WordPress isn't the right fit — including custom CMS backends when a simpler, more controlled editorial interface is required.

Website Redesign & Modernisation

Many of our website projects are redesigns of existing sites that have fallen behind — visually dated, slow on mobile, difficult to update, or no longer ranking in search. A redesign isn't just a cosmetic exercise: we audit your existing site's content, analytics, and search visibility before starting, carrying over what's working and improving what isn't. We redirect old URLs to preserve link equity, maintain or improve your ranking for established keywords, and migrate content systematically to avoid losing material that, while not prominently displayed, has accumulated organic traffic or inbound links over time.

Performance & Core Web Vitals

Website performance directly affects both user experience and search ranking. Google's Core Web Vitals — Largest Contentful Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift, and Interaction to Next Paint — are ranking signals that measure how fast and stable a page feels to real users. We optimise image delivery using modern formats (WebP, AVIF) and lazy loading, reduce page weight through code splitting and asset minification, implement effective caching strategies, and configure hosting environments for performance. We use Lighthouse and WebPageTest to measure baseline and post-optimisation performance and report results transparently.

On-Page SEO Foundation

Every website we build includes on-page SEO foundations as standard: proper heading hierarchy (H1 through H3), descriptive page titles and meta descriptions for every page, image alt text, structured data markup (JSON-LD) for business information, Open Graph tags for social sharing, canonical URLs, XML sitemap, and robots.txt configuration. We connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics at launch so you have baseline visibility into how the site is performing from day one. This is the foundation that ongoing SEO content work builds upon — a technically sound site is a prerequisite for ranking, not an optional extra.

Hosting Setup & Ongoing Support

We configure hosting environments for the sites we build — whether that's WordPress on a managed hosting platform, a static site on Azure Blob Storage with CDN, or a custom application on Azure App Service. This includes SSL certificate provisioning and auto-renewal, DNS configuration, backups, and server hardening. After launch, we offer ongoing support retainers covering WordPress core and plugin updates, security monitoring, content changes, and performance maintenance. A website that isn't actively maintained — particularly a WordPress site — accumulates security vulnerabilities and technical debt that make future work harder and more expensive.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our Website Project Process

A typical website project starts with a discovery session — we understand your business, your audience, your existing brand assets, and what you want the website to achieve. From there we produce wireframes (layout and structure) for your review before any visual design is applied, so structural decisions are made efficiently without the overhead of visual rework.

Visual design is applied to the wireframes and reviewed with your team before development begins. This staged approach means we're not redesigning at the development stage — changes to design in development are significantly more expensive than changes to a static design file. Development typically runs four to eight weeks for a standard site, with regular check-in demos and a staged content migration process.

Launch is preceded by a structured pre-launch checklist: cross-browser and device testing, performance audit, SEO checks, form and analytics verification, and a backup of the final state. We'll stay available for the first two weeks post-launch to address any issues that emerge in the live environment.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Website Design & Development — Frequently Asked Questions

WordPress is the right answer for most business websites — especially when your team needs to manage content themselves, the functionality you need exists as plugins, and your timeline and budget suit a CMS-first approach. Custom-built sites (without a CMS like WordPress) make sense when you need very specific functionality that doesn't fit the WordPress model, when performance is critical and you want to eliminate CMS overhead, or when you need tight integration with backend systems. Custom-built sites require developer involvement for content changes unless paired with a CMS layer. We'll discuss both options and their trade-offs as part of the initial project conversation.

Website cost varies widely based on the number of pages, complexity of design, functionality required, and whether a CMS is involved. A straightforward five-to-ten page brochure website for a professional services firm is a very different scope from a 50-page corporate platform with custom forms, integrations, and a CMS configured for a team of editors. We provide fixed-price quotes after a brief discovery session — we won't give a price until we understand what you actually need, and we won't quote a lower price to win the work and then expand scope after signing.

A well-built website with proper on-page SEO foundations will rank better than a poorly built one — but ranking requires more than technical correctness. Content quality, site authority (inbound links from other credible sites), Google Business Profile optimisation, and user engagement signals all contribute. We build the technical foundation — fast loading, correct HTML structure, structured data, sitemap, and Search Console setup — that makes it possible for the site to rank. Whether it does rank depends on the quality and relevance of the content, the competitiveness of your industry keywords, and the ongoing SEO work you invest in after launch.

For WordPress sites, we configure the CMS so your team can update text, images, and page content themselves without touching code. We provide a handover session covering the editor interface and any common tasks your team will need to perform. For structural changes — new page layouts, new functionality, design changes — that's work we'd typically do for you. We offer ongoing support retainers for teams that prefer to have us handle all updates, including WordPress core and plugin security updates which are important but easy to neglect. For custom-built sites without a CMS, all content changes require developer involvement.
